Clear, transparent, and timely communication for fair authorship decisions: a practical guide

Abstract. Authorship conflicts are a common occurrence in academic publishing, and they can have serious implications for the careers well-being of involved researchers as well collective success research organizations. In addition to not inviting relevant contributors co-author paper, order authors honorary, gift, ghost all widely recognized problems related authorship. Unfair authorship practices disproportionately affect those lower power hierarchies – early career researchers, women, from Global South, other minoritized groups. Here we propose an approach preparing author lists based on clear, transparent, timely communication. This aims minimize potential late-stage during manuscript preparation by facilitating transparent decisions co-authors their responsibilities. Furthermore, our help avoid imbalances between contributions credits published papers recording planned executed We present guidelines which also include novel form along with documentation formulation process multidisciplinary interdisciplinary center more than 250 researchers.
